Several departments use Exchange's Public Folders to provide shared calendars. Vacation calendars, travel calendars, and room reservations are common examples of shared calendars. There is no automated way to migrate these calendars from the Exchange server to M+Google. The following instructions explain how to export Public Folder Calendars from Exchange and import them into an M+Google calendar.
Exporting from Exchange
In Microsoft Outlook 2010, navigate to the Public Folders and select the calendar you want to export. From the File menu, select Save Calendar. You may use the default output file name, or set a file name of your own. Make sure the Save as type is set to iCalendar Format, and click Save.
Don’t forget to make a note of the calendar permissions in Exchange (Owners, Editors, Reviewers, etc.) before quitting Outlook. To do so, right-click the calendar and select Change Sharing Permissions....
Importing iCalendar files into M+Google
Note: The individual who performs this import will become the default owner of the resulting calendar, and will need to assign permissions to new owners and editors.
Connect to https://www.google.com/calendar/b/0/render and authenticate with your firstname.lastname@example.org email address and UMICH.EDU Kerberos password. Create the new calendar that will be the target for the imported data. Next select Import Calendar, and select the file to be imported. Set the destination calendar to be the new calendar you created. Click the Import button to start the import process. After several minutes, a results window will be displayed when the import is complete. You can now begin to set the permissions for who may view/edit events on the calendar.
